Obituary

RABER, Betty, 75, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017 in Tulsa, OK surrounded by her family who adored her. She was born November 5, 1942 in Milaca, Minnesota to Carl Berthold and Bertha Lillian (Aarhus) Morgenweck. Born to hardworking and loving parents, she was the spunky, fun-loving middle child in a family of 5 children. She grew up on a farm in Ogilvie, Minnesota and graduated from high school there. She traveled all over the U.S. as the wife of a Navy man while starting a family. They returned to Minnesota and ran a Grade A dairy farm while also pastoring a church in Mora, MN. Between raising 5 children, running the farm and being a pastor's wife, Betty worked hard from before sunup to after sundown, but always with a smile on her face, laughter in her voice, and the best food anyone could hope for. She had a talent for knowing what people needed - her time, her love and some delicious homemade food.

In 1978 they, along with their church, founded the first private Christian school in their area - Grasston Christian Academy, from which 3 of their own children graduated. After their sons graduated and they sold the dairy farm, Betty worked for many years as a cook and baker at the local hospital; but what she is best known for is her kindness, hospitality and love of people. Her family was her greatest treasure and she loved them well. "Momma" and "Grandma" were her proudest titles. She was an excellent cook and loved to bake, blessing many with her baking talents over the years. Betty eventually retired and moved to Tulsa to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She worked part-time at Lincoln Christian School of Tulsa for several years, serving the children in the cafeteria. It was her joy and delight to see the children every day, most especially her grandchildren that attended there. Betty was an avid gardener, and if the weather was sunny you could find her working in her flowerbeds where her beautiful yard displayed her labor of love. Betty will be greatly missed by people far and wide, because wherever she lived, she loved the people God brought across her path.

She is mourned by her children, Brian (Ruth) Raber of Houston, TX; Jeff (Kim) Raber of Cincinnati, OH; Shelly (Jeff) Copeland of Catoosa, OK; Stephanie (Mark) Turney of Tulsa, OK; and Sarah Raber-Flynn of McGrath, MN; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sonja Cole and Faye Carroll; two brothers, Dennis Morgenweck and Ralph Morgenweck; her faithful dachshund, Ginger; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including the many friends in her neighborhood and her dear friends at First Baptist Church-Tulsa, where she was a member.
