Betty Reading, 93, of Tulsa, Oklahoma died on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Baptist Village in Broken Arrow. She was born to Elmer Klein and Martha Girrard Klein on January 30, 1929 in South Bend, IN. She married William J. Reading who preceded her in death in 2005.
Mrs. Reading was a 1st grade school teacher in Flint, Michigan for 25 years. She received her Master's Degree from Eastern Michigan University and was a member of Riverside Assembly of God in Flint and later attended Grand Rapids First church. She and her husband retired to Grandville, MI to be near family.
Betty is survived by 1 son and 2 daughters: William J. Reading, Jr. and his wife Louise of Sun City, Arizona; Sheryl and her husband Michael Mercier of Charleston, Tennessee; and Beth DeSilva of Broken Arrow. Betty is also survived by 1 sister, Marlene Cox, 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Velma Shearer and her husband Fred, and son-in-law Joe DeSilva.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 11:00 am at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, IN. There will be visitation with the family a half hour before the memorial and a luncheon will follow the service.
