Youmans, Betty Lee Scott Duncan, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2016. She was born September 12, 1921 in Tulsa, OK to Melva Scott Hart. Survived by husband, Art and 4 children, Mary Rankin, Thomas Duncan and Rene Duncan of Tulsa and Ted Duncan of Henryetta, OK, 6 grandchildren, Thomas Duncan, Jr., Deana Lang, Denise McClarrinon, Donna Weekley, Tammy Hogg and Geana Wilhelm, 13 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Betty, a 19 year employee and the 2nd of 2 female employees in management, retired from American Airlines in 1970 to return from New York City to Tulsa to take care of her mother, Melva Scott Hart, her stepfather Frank Hart and her grandparents Bill and Louise (Mer) Ryan, also to become a full time house wife. As manager of American's stolen ticket department ("Mouse" Group), Betty turned down an offer from the FBI to work for them in Washington, D.C. in the early 1960's.
Betty was the organizer for the annual Tulsa Central High School class of 1940 reunions, weekly Saturday morning walks with about 20 classmates at River Parks followed by breakfast at Ruby's Restaurant and class historian.
A star athlete at Central High School in Tulsa's Class of 1940, Betty excelled in baseball as a catcher and threw a baseball as well as Yogi Berra did. She also was a terrific dancer, driver and swimmer. As a member of Central High School's Board of Directors in the 1980's and early 1990's, Betty assisted in the placing of the Great Spirit statue in Tulsa's Woodward Park and received a Central High School Certificate of Appreciation from the school on January 11, 1990.
Preceded in death by her sisters Virginia Mooring and Elizabeth Spencer , Mother, Melva Scott Hart, step father Frank Hart, first husband Ed Duncan and beloved grandparents, Bill and Louise (Mer) Ryan.
