Betty Jo Shipman was born on May 8, 1929 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She departed this life on January 23, 2024 at the age of 94 years. She was the first of four daughters born to Lewis Leon Haworth and Ruth Magnetta (Gammill) Haworth. She was preceded in death by both parents and her sisters.

She was a graduate of Union High School in Tulsa in the class of 1947. She played in the band, playing a bass drum nearly as large as she was. Shortly after graduation, she met and married Earl Shipman in April of 1948. Through their union, there were three children born: Sammy of Tulsa, Frank (wife Tricia) of Owasso, and Vickie of Tulsa. They were married for 49 years until Mr. Shipman`s passing in July of 1997.

She was mostly a homemaker and a mother, but also worked as a receiving clerk for retail clothing stores. She had a special love for dachshund dogs, which were her beloved Odie and Duffy. In addition to her three children, she is survived by four grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was the matriarch of the family, whom she loved dearly as they loved her. She was most happy when spending time with family at gatherings. She will be so very missed, but she will live on in the hearts of those she loved and those that loved her.

Visitation will be 5PM - 8PM, Monday, January 29, 2024 at Moore's Southlawn Chapel, 9350 East 51st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Funeral service will be 11AM, Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Moore's Southlawn Chapel.
