Obituary

Betty R. Simpson was born on August 15, 1925 and peacefully passed at the age of 98 on March 29, 2024, after having lived a full life with many pursuits. Betty was always an avid reader, a student of many interests and a traveler of the World. She studied at the University of Oklahoma, Kansas State University, and the University of Nebraska and was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She achieved a Master in Library Science degree and applied that education to her first job supporting Paul Harvey's radio show broadcasting out of Chicago. Subsequently, she used her education in various volunteer jobs, such as serving on the Tulsa County Library Board, being a book Recording Volunteer at Children's Hospital, a founding member of the Ambassadors Book program, a member of PEO Women's Education organization, English Speaking Union, and Tulsa Opera Guild, all while maintaining a home for her beloved husband Col. Robert F Simpson, Jr., who predeceased Betty, and four children.
Betty's surviving children, (their spouses) and Betty's grandchildren are: Robert F. Simpson, III, (Mary Alice), Brian, Robert, and Carey (deceased); Scott L. Simpson, (Barbara), Chris and Scottie; Alan W. Simpson, (Lee), Joseph and Allie; and Lee Ann S. Remington Sparks, (Steve) and Grant. Also predeceasing Betty were her parents whom Betty adored, (and their spouses) Lea B. McClintock (Tony) and Reb Russell (Julia) and her cousin Corinne Smith, with whom she was very close.
Betty was unmatched in her fondness for engaging with all people and eating Haagen-Dazs ice cream. Both made her smile and perhaps were the key to her longevity. Undoubtedly, she was a force in many peoples' lives and left her mark on the World. She will be missed.
