Betty Ann (McCubbin) White
Betty Ann McCubbin was born August 29, 1925 at Evansville, Indiana to Esther and Loyd McCubbin. She was raised by her mother and loving stepfather, Virgil Copeland. Her family moved to Gary, Indiana when she was 12, and she graduated from Emerson High School in Gary in 1943. Following graduation, she was educated as a Western Union teletype operator at Crawfordsville, Indiana. On June 8, 1946, she married Lester White of Hoopeston, Illinois. After 14 years in Indiana, the Whites moved to Tulsa, where Mrs. White completed further education at OSU/Okmulgee. She served as a proofreader for the Tulsa World and Tribune's Newspaper Printing Corporation. Mrs. White was an active member and lay ministry leader at Gary, Indiana First Church of the Nazarene for 14 years, and at Tulsa Central Church of the Nazarene for 54 years. She was also an active member of a variety of community organizations, including the Tulsa Christian Businesswomen's Club and Tulsa's Little Lighthouse. For several years she carried out a personal ministry to senior adults of comforting those who were suffering by delivering flowers to the homebound. Mrs. White is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, and one brother, John Copeland. She is survived by one brother, Jerry Copeland of Norcross, Georgia, her three sons and their spouses, Tim and Kathy White of Dallas, Texas, Joey and Susan White of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Phil and Marilyn White of Bethany, Oklahoma, and by eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. White left this life for her eternal home September 13, 2014 in Oklahoma City, two weeks after celebrating her 89th birthday.
Visitation will be Thursday,6-8 pm at Moore's Rosewood, 2570 S. Harvard, Tulsa.
Service is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Friday, Sept. 19, 2014 at Central Church of the Nazarene,
7291 E. 81st Street.
