Services for Betty will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday June 6, 2018 at the Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel in Tulsa. Services will be Episcopal. Burial will be at Floral Haven in Broken Arrow at 3:15pm, where she will rejoin her husband Brownie Berry who passed on in 2005 at the VA in Claremore, OK.
Betty was born on Nov. 21, 1924 in Wister, Oklahoma to John Hubert Logan and Alice (Hoover) Logan. She left us quietly on June 3, 2018 in Marietta, OK at the age of 93 years, 6 months and 15 days.
She was educated in LeFlore County, OK until the family moved to Hichita, OK where she graduated from High School with Brownie. Betty then attended Southeastern State University in Durant during most of the war years graduating with a B.A., with honors, and was listed in Who's Who of American Students.
Brownie returned from WWII in Europe and they were married in November of 1945. She became a High School teacher and taught in Panama, OK and Howe, OK until Brownie went to Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater on the G.I. bill. She then taught at Morrison, OK.
The only son, John D. Berry was born to Betty in Oct. of 1951. Upon graduation Brownie took a job at Pawnee, IL, High School where Betty taught English, Business classes and Women's athletics. She was an avid Basketball player and equally skilled at Archery and Badminton. At Pawnee H.S. she had no office for a while and carried all her papers with her to each class in a shiny clean, metal trashcan.
The family moved to Southern California in 1960 where she stopped teaching and became a full time mom. They returned to Oklahoma in 1974 and were residents of Tulsa. She was a breast cancer survivor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Brownie, and her brother Harold R. Logan
She is survived by her sisters Dorothy Guy of Irvine, CA; LaRue Terry of San Antonio, TX and LaNore Hayes of Tulsa. Her son and Daughter in Law, John D. Berry and Tora Williamsen-Berry of Ardmore, OK and her Grand-Son Pablo Logan Berry-Williamsen.
