Beverly Joan
Wilcox
May 4, 1933 – May 17, 2026
With deep sadness and heavy hearts, Beverly Wilcox departed from this world peacefully on May 17, 2026 in her home after a brief decline in her health. Surrounded by family and friends in her final days, her passing marked 93 years that she was blessed with a long and full life.
Beverly was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on May 4, 1933, to Homer E. and Genevieve (Spence) Duncan. She was a graduate of Central High School and attended Tulsa University. Beverly married Luman Langdon (Sonny) Wilcox in 1953 and they raised 3 children - Lang, Susan and Kathy.
Beverly was an inspiration to all that knew her. After Sonny passed in 2013, she lived alone and independently up to her 93rd birthday. Her life was always filled with laughter, which made an indelible mark on all of her family and friends who she adored.
As a homemaker, Beverly joined the "Gillies" as a docent at Gilcrease Museum in 1975 through the next 53 years, up to her passing. She volunteered regularly and held numerous board positions, including two terms as docent chair and six terms as travel chair of the Gillies and she always said it was a privilege and honor to do so. This also brought about her love of Western Art and many of the friendships she made throughout the years. She was also an active member of DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution). She loved her hobbies which included travel, gardening, bird watching and all nature, along with loving all the many pets by her side throughout the years. When not in Tulsa, she spent summers by the lake in Michigan enjoying time with family and friends. Her legacy is a tapestry of uplifting friendships and cherished memories. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, and we look forward to the day when we will be with her again.
Beverly is survived by her three children, Luman Langdon (Lang) Wilcox, Jr. (spouse Emmy) of North Carolina, Susan Munkres (spouse Terrill) of Texas, and Katherine (Kathy) Bell (spouse Eddie), Checota, OK, and brother, Robert (Bob) Duncan (spouse Dede) of Tulsa. She loved and cherished her eight grandchildren, Spence Wilcox (spouse Kimberly), Ryan Wilcox (spouse Lee-Lee), Chad Munkres (spouse Laura), Alyssa Deaton (spouse Josh), Brett Munkres (spouse Kellie), Katy McElroy, Lisa McElroy, and Cody Hess (spouse Lauren). She had fifteen great-grandchildren to share her joyfulness with: Lindsey & Davis Wilcox; Presley, Camden & Loey Wilcox; Gavin & Kate Munkres; Kennedy, Rory & Brady Deaton; Natalie & Claire Munkres; Charlie & Frankie Baker and "Baby" Hess due in August, along with many nieces and nephews.
The Wilcox family would like to thank the entire staff at Saint Francis Hospice and the wonderful staff and all the caring private duty nurses with First Call that cared for her at her home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in her honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (http://www.stjude.org 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; 800-805-5856) or Saint Francis Hospice (6600 South Yale Avenue, Suite 350, Tulsa, OK 74136; 918-494-6465)
