Obituary

Bob Dan Hill passed December 13, 2020, on his 90th birthday. The family decided that his beloved wife, Juanita Hill, wanted to spend part of the day with him so she called him Home.

Bob is survived by his two sons, Bob Hill and wife Felice of Tulsa and Ron Hill of Muskogee; and four grandchildren, Chelsea Penn and husband Dusty of Tulsa, Cassie Spear and husband Joe of Tulsa, Clay Hill of Keys and Cole Hill of Stillwell, in addition, eleven great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, family members and loved ones also survive him. He is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Juanita; daughter, Judy Mae Hill, brother Jack Hill, brother Mack Hill and sister Mary Butler, daughter-in-law, Marcia Hill and parents Odus and Vinnie Mae Hill.

Bob graduated from Stillwell High School in 1948 and attended Tulsa Barber College in 1958. Upon graduation from college, he worked with his Uncle John at the Palace Barber Shop in Stillwell before taking over the business upon John's retirement. He worked with his best friend, Grady Price, for 56 years before retiring to care for Juanita during her failing health. A Hill family member owned the barber shop in town until 2014 when Bob retired and sold to a fellow barber. He served the entire town with his barbering skills until his retirement. He visited the homes of those that could not travel to him, making weekly visits to the Stillwell Nursing Home to cut the residents' hair and also gave his grandkids' their first haircut.

Bob and Juanita were married in August 1948 and never spent a night apart. When she was admitted to the Stillwell nursing home, he visited her every day until her death. Bob and Juanita epitomized love and commitment. Through thick and thin, they weathered any storm together. They raised two boys and never missed a moment with their grandkids during their childhood. Bob and Juanita were charter members of the Pentecostal Holiness Church where he led the choir. He was always known to break into song at any moment and even charmed the nurses at his nursing home in Jenks with his singing.

His grandchildren were the light of his life. Most weekends, you could see Bob and Juanita in town with one or all of their grandkids. They often reminisce of "the Chestnut house", "playing cowboys and Indians," "Monday afternoon fishing trips" and the "best water to drink was in the jar out of the refrigerator;" Bob kept a mason jar full of water in the fridge and threatened them "not to breathe into the jar as you were drinking so we didn't share cooties."

Bob declined in health about 6 months after Juanita's death and spent 2 years in the Stillwell Nursing Home. The family decided to move him to Grace Living Center in Jenks 3 years ago where he was adored and cared for by the nurses there. They called him "pawpaw" and surrounded him when he took his final breath.
