Obituary

Bobbie Laverne Edwards passed away peacefully on May 21, 2023, at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born February 1, 1925, in Sperry, Oklahoma to Rozzie and Vernola Ligon. She was the second youngest of four children. She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings: Bernard Ligon, Lola Tennyson, and Jeanne Geraghty. Their parents owned and operated a hardware store located in the original Sperry Bank Building. Bobbie and her younger sister, Jeanne, would walk to the store to get a coke and penny candy. In the evenings they would often take their dad dinner. Their home was next to the First Christian Church of Sperry. Mom would say if the church doors were open, they were there.

After high school, Bobbie's family moved from Sperry to Tulsa where she attended Draughon Business College. Upon obtaining her degree, she began her career at Dowell in the payroll department. Shortly after, Jeanne began working at Dowell with Bobbie as her boss. Jeanne's response was, "I always do what she tells me anyway."

A Ditto machine salesman named Neal Edwards visited Dowell in the mid-1940s. While it cannot be confirmed he closed the sale, he did meet Bobbie, they began dating, and were married on October 28, 1947 and were married for over 50 years. Bobbie and Neal made their home in Tulsa after marriage and welcomed their two children, Brian and Lori Edwards in 1958 and 1960, respectively. In 1965, Bobbie and Neal successfully started their printing business, Standard Business Duplicating, which later became Standard Business Forms. She retired from the printing business at the age of 89. The Business is in operation today.

In the early 1970s, Bobbie and Jeanne's families purchased a cabin at Grand Lake. They spent many years making memories with their children, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives and eventually grandchildren.

Bobbie and Neal loved family they would always attend or host extended family gatherings. They instilled this value in their children and grandchildren. She was a continuous foundation in the lives of her grandchildren. Bobbie watched over them after school ensuring they all made it to piano lessons, sports practice, other activities, and during the summer months until they were older. She never missed milestones with school, music, sports, or weddings. Her home is filled with photos of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many other family members.

Bobbie took great pride and enjoyment in her gardening. Her bird feeders were always kept full. She especially enjoyed watching the hummingbirds on her back patio.

From a young age, Bobbie poured herself into her family and continued to do so the rest of her life. She showed love unconditionally. Our mother lived faith, hope and love throughout out her life and shared that with all of us. Her positivity, grace, and optimism overshadowed outside negativity and had a lasting impact on anyone that knew her. Truly, to know her was to love her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to A New Leaf .
