Bobby Neil 'Bob' Jackson, 81, died on December 7, 2015 in Tulsa. He was born on November 22, 1934 in Van Buren, Arkansas to Pearl and Dibrell Jackson. He was also welcomed into the world by his 15-month-old brother, Bill, and was raised on the family farm near Van Buren.
Bob attended Oklahoma A&M College and studied horticulture. He married his sweetheart, Betty Jean Crawford, on June 4, 1955, then entered the Army as an intelligence specialist, where he was stationed in St. Louis, MO, and Baltimore, MD. He went to work for Public Service Company of Oklahoma in 1960. Bob eventually became head of the Economic Development Department. Bob loved his job. As a person who embraced the development of relationships and a tireless work ethic, Bob's position allowed him to work with government, civic and business leaders in Oklahoma, the entire U.S. and around the world helping to attract to Green Country important industries such as Hilti, Kimberly Clark and Blue Bell. He retired from PSO in 1993.
Retirement gave Bob the opportunity to spend all of his remaining years pursuing his love of golf and the regular set of friends, including his brother Bill, who shared that passion. Bob's retirement also afforded he and Betty had many years of life together. Bob was a generous human being. He and Betty loved spending time with and spoiling their three grandchildren. Bob courageously and with complete selfless dedication cared for his wife through her battle with diabetes until her death in 2008. He was an active member of First Baptist Church, Tulsa, pouring himself into teaching Sunday School, serving on committees, the deacon body, and encouraging and mentoring many people along the way.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Betty, and his parents, Dibrell and Pearl Jackson.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Lisa, her husband, Kyle, and their three children, Colin, Erin, and Alison; his brother, Bill Jackson and his wife Mavis; his nephew Mark and wife Dawn, and their children Cassy, Abby, Caleb and Joshua; his aunt Tawana; as well as many other extended family members.
Viewing will be 10:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Moore's Southlawn, 9350 E. 51st, Tulsa, OK. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church, Tulsa.
