Richard Bradley "Brad" Coody died at home on 11 Jan 2024 surrounded by his family. He was born at Flower Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma on 1 Dec 1937, the third child of Richard McConnell and Gladys Mildred (Burton) Coody. He was educated at Burroughs Elementary School and Theodore Roosevelt Junior High School, and he graduated from Central High School in Tulsa in the Class of 1956.
Brad earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Tulsa University and his Masters of Business Administration in Finance from Oklahoma City University. He belonged to Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity at Tulsa University. For a short time after college, Brad enjoyed working part-time in radio as a disk jockey in Dallas, Texas.
Brad married the love of his life, Janetta Lee Silvers, on 19 Aug 1960. They had one daughter and one son, and their successful marriage was obvious as they remained teammates for over 63 years.
Brad enlisted and served in the Oklahoma Air National Guard from 1960 to 1966 and worked in the Accounting and Finance Office in the 138th Air Transport Wing (Heavy) in the Military Air Transport Service (MATS) Command.
Later, Brad was hired as a finance officer with oil companies in Tulsa until those companies moved to Houston. Wanting to remain in Tulsa, he found employment working for Purolator Filters which had relocated from New Jersey after being purchased by Penzoil. Then, deciding to to start his own business, Brad purchased a plastics manufacturing company and worked 18 hours a day until deciding to retire.
Brad was a member of the St. James Church. He had a passion for golf, the Indian Springs Country Club, and he was a past treasurer of the Northeast Oklahoma Miata Club. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Thomas Jarrell "Jerry" Coody, and his sister Margaret "Jane" (Coody) Boren. He is survived by his wife, daughter, and son. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa. Arrangements by Moore' Southlawn Funeral Home in Tulsa.
