Brenda Knipfer, 67, of Tulsa, OK, passed away February 9th, 2021 in the arms of her beloved husband and best friend, Lee Knipfer. Brenda was born to the late Ernest and Polly Cashion, January 17th, 1954 in Kansas City, Kansas. Brenda married Lee Knipfer in 1996 and is survived by her husband, children Adam Price and Kate Baker, of Tulsa; stepsons Mark Knipfer, of Atlanta, and Josh Knipfer, of Tulsa. She is also survived by seven grandchildren.
Brenda taught for 26 years for Tulsa Public Schools, most of that time at Eugene Field Elementary. She retired from teaching in 2017. She loved teaching and believed that all students can learn and that education is the key to shaping and changing lives. Both beliefs she
fostered in her daughter, who also became a teacher. Brenda was an incredible mentor to young educators over the years, and she was always the voice of experience and wisdom when teachers believed they had exhausted all of their tools to help a student. Brenda was also the teacher who had every material item imaginable in her closet, ready to give to any teacher who needed it. She was a fierce advocate for her students and fellow teachers. Brenda touched and affected many lives, student and teacher, throughout her career.
Brenda had a close-knit group of friends, many from her years at Eugene Field. She enjoyed an active social life in her retirement. This group of friends has been a wonderful support to our family in this difficult time.
Brenda married her best friend, Lee, 24 years ago, and he has been by her side every step of this journey, and has taken such great care of Brenda. They loved their trips to Alaska together, and they had been looking forward to traveling and spending more time with their children and grandchildren. Brenda passed in her favorite place, Lee's arms.
Brenda is believed to be the most amazing mother and stepmother there was. Brenda and Lee created the most loving and wonderful blended family that no longer feels blended. They worked hard to make us one family. The love shared among us is clearly evident by all.
Thanksgiving has always been her favorite holiday, and the family have fond memories of gathering, all of us kids, our spouses and children, early and enjoying mimosas while cooking all day. Thanksgiving winds down late in the evening with peppermint schnapps and lively conversation about all of our shenanigans from our younger days.
Brenda is a loving and fun "Bubby" to her grandchildren ranging from 13 years old to 19 months. The grandkids have enjoyed crafting, cooking, and playing with Bubby over the years. The grandkids could always trust Bubby would spoil them with the kinds of treats that their own parents wouldn't allow in the house.
Brenda will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Brenda did not want any fanfare or funeral upon her death. To keep with these wishes, we will be celebrating Brenda's life privately as a family.
In lieu of flowers, please donate in Brenda's name to The Pencil Box Tulsa. We believe this would be an organization close to Brenda's heart, as they provide teaching supplies to Tulsa Teachers in high need schools. Pencilboxtulsa.org or 2002 E. 6th St. Tulsa, OK 74104
