Brenda A Spencer's Obituary

Brenda Ann Spencer passed away peacefully surrounded by family Thursday March 30, 2017.
Born in Decatur, Illinois, Jan 29, 1949, to Rev. Gordon and Marilyn Spencer, she was the firstborn of 6 children. Brenda was highly recognized in her graduating class as the Valedictorian, National Merit Scholar, Drum Majorette and Jr. Miss of Dewey High School.
Brenda received her Masters in the Visual Arts from Tulsa University. She was admittedly passionate about the Arts. Over the years she expressed her creativity through watercolors, stained glass, ceramics, and sculpture and was active in arts organizations in both Louisiana and Oklahoma.
Brenda enjoyed sharing her skills and the many friendships she made as Sr. Program Analyst at Williams Company.
She reveled in the delights and the beauties of the natural world, from predawn walks upon beaches and streams capturing the morning colors to the fireflies rising in the evening's magic hour.
Having no children of her own she found great joy in her close relationships with her nieces and nephews.
Brenda is survived by her partner of nearly 20 years, Mark Shoup, her mother Marilyn Spencer, her siblings, Gary and Jayne Spencer, Teresa Holder, Robert and Glenda Spencer, and Laurie Spencer. She was loved by many nieces and nephews and their children, Andrea and George Hearn, Cheyenne Holder, Crystal and Bill Ghere, Erin and Micah Lucie, Alli and Brad Essary, Craig and Leslie Spencer, Kashion and Chris Livesey, Cris and Tasha Spencer, Eric Spencer, Ryan and Shelbye Spencer, Geovy Cajamarca, little Bobby Spencer, her god daughter Amanda Brown and cousins too numerous to name. She is preceded in death by her father, Rev. Gordon Spencer, and her brother, Brett Spencer.
God guided her steps in her relationships and shared her love through the Volunteers in Missions programs from Costa Rica to Carriacou.
She was a member of the Boston Ave Methodist Church, where her services will be held Tuesday April 4, 11:00 am, with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Boston Ave Methodist Church's Volunteers in Mission (VIM) or to Living Arts of Tulsa or a nonprofit arts organization of your choice.
