Brooks Hough Bearden, 94, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at home with family surrounding him.
Brooks Bearden was born on January 31, 1931, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Frank James Bearden and Hazel G Bearden (Martin). Brooks grew up in the Tulsa area along with his sister, Barbara. He graduated from Rogers High School in the late forties. He played French horn in band while in high school.
Brooks joined the United States Navy in 1949 and spent four years on the USS Hammerhead Submarine. He decided on the sub since it paid more, and you ate better. During that time he spent time in the waters around Korea lending support during the Korean conflict. After returning home, Brooks attended Oklahoma State University where he studied Mechanical Engineering and graduated in 1960. He later attended Tulsa University where he studied Law.
When Brooks finished his education, he came home and took over the family business, his father started the business in 1919 after WWI. Brooks spent the next sixty years in the plumbing/heat and air business. In fact, the last time Brooks crawled under a house was less than two years ago, November 2023.
Brooks married Patti in the late 1950's, together they had two boys. In the summer of 1975, the marriage came to an end, but they stayed friends the rest of their lives. Brooks then found his high school sweetheart, Charolette Huckaby. They spend the next forty years together, until her death. They loved working on their pond in the back yard and taking care of their cocker spaniels.
Brooks knew how to work. He would work late into the evenings. When needed Brooks knew how to use his law degree dealing with people and the situations that would come up. He was the most giving person, donating to different charities. He was always up to new challenges; he got his pilot license in 1970 for a single prop plane. Brooks also loved his old Buicks; he has three of them and each one has over 500,000 miles with one at 700,000 miles. Brooks always said, "no kind deed goes unpunished." As we all know, Brooks was a good man.
Brooks is survived by his two sons Chris Bearden and Mark (Stephanie) Bearden; grandchildren Cody Bear, Lucas Bearden, Jennifer (Justin) Vivion and Garrett (Justin) Freeman; great grandchildren Shanna Stoll, Willow Belle Bearden, Abby Vivion, Adien Vivion, Rhyen Freeman and Kalor Freeman; two nephews John Freese and Brian (Judy) Freese. He was preceded in death by the love of his life Charlette Huckaby, ex-wife Patricia Bearden, sister Barbara Cole, parents Frank Bearden and Hazel Bearden, grandson Sean Bearden
