Obituary

Buck Clayton passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023 at the age of 86.

Buck was born June 17,1936 to Woodrow and Delphia Clayton in Weatherford, OK.

Buck was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend. He leaves behind his loving wife and best friend of 65 years, Linda Clayton; daughter, Sharon Esmond and son-in-law, Scott Esmond; daughter, Janice Clayton; grandson, Dalton Esmond and fiance, Sarah; and grandson, Clayton Esmond and wife, Lindy.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Woodrow Clayton and Delphia Lampert Close; brothers, Carl Clayton and Gil Lampert.

Buck graduated from Central High School in 1954. He also attended Broken Arrow High School, which he dearly loved. He attended college at the University of Tulsa after serving in the United States Air Force.

Buck served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from 1954 to 1958. He was stationed in Japan as a Highly Classified Secret Clearance Radio Operations Receiver. Later he returned to Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi working as an instructor teaching Morse Code.

He married his beautiful bride, Linda Lyle on August 22,1959. Buck worked for KVOO TV Channel 2 in Tulsa for 20 years. He worked on the floor crew, as a camera man, then became a director which he did for many years. One of his most memorable positions at Channel 2 was working on a children's TV show called Big Bill and Oom-A-Gog and another show called Captain Alan and Oom-A-Gog from 1966 to 1969. Buck was Oom-A-Gog the robot. Buck began his second career as a charter bus driver for M, K & O Lines in the late 70's. He loved to travel and see the country. Buck was a member of Trinity Baptist Church for 60 years. For many years Buck was a member of the Redfork Lions Club and served in various leadership positions including club President.

Buck enjoyed traveling with his family, exploring the national parks, restoring old cars and Farmall tractors, researching family history and he loved animals. He had many friends and brought joy to all those he met. He had an infectious smile and a wonderful laugh. Buck never met a stranger and once you met him you never forgot him.

A Viewing Time will be held Saturday, January 28, 2023 from 10 am - 6 pm, and Sunday, January 29, 2023 from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm at Moore Southlawn 9350 E 51St St. Tulsa, OK 74145.

A Celebration of Buck's Life will be held Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Trinity Baptist Church, 1703 W. 41st Street, Tulsa, OK 74107.

Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa.
