C. Forrest Brokaw, Jr., 84 of
Tulsa passed away Wednesday,
May 28, 2013. He was born
in Shawnee, OK, September 5,
1928, first of six kids. He was in
broadcast news ? radio/TV, 33
years, ages 14 ? 47, from KGFF
to writer/ announcer for Armed
Forces radio/television service,
Japan as an honorable member
of the U.S. Army, 1946 ? 47. He
served as news director, KVOO
radio/television and KELI radio;
then general manager of KIXZ radio in
Amarillo; City Hall reporter for Tulsa Tribune;
and manager, KUSH, Cushing. He
served as president of the Tulsa Press Club,
1972. He joined Sun in 1975, retiring in 1990.
He?s listed in the Who?s Who of America.
He is survived by: son
Brokaw III and his wife, Penny,
Tulsa; daughters, Nancy Jernigan
and her husband, Steve, Tulsa,
Susan Waldron and her husband,
David, Broken Arrow; 8 grandchildren;
12 great-grandchildren;
sisters, Ann Gibson, Oklahoma
City, Nan Hauser and her husband,
Gene, Omega, OK; numerous
relatives and friends. Preceded
in death by: wife of 62 years,
5 months and 1 day, JoNell Louise
Foster Brokaw; sisters, Lucille Hitch,
Luciene Meshew and brother, Bill Brokaw.
Service 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 15,
2013, St. Paul?s United Methodist Church.
