Obituary

Camille Maureen (Lay) Benson passed away on Tuesday August 3 rd, 2021, in Tulsa, OK; she was 84 years old.
Camille was born on November 1st , 1936 in Oklahoma City, OK. She was the daughter of Vern and Irene Lay. Camille graduated from Lawton High School and obtained her bachelor's degree in Education from Oklahoma State University.
After graduating from Oklahoma State University Camille became a teacher before pivoting to real estate. She was a residential and commercial real estate agent for over 20 years.
Outside of work Camille was an avid traveler and an amazing cook. She loved to travel the world with her husband Tom Benson. Their travels took them all over the United States, as well as Canada, Mexico, and Europe. Her travels eventually led her to spending half of the year in one of her favorite places, Whidbey Island, Washington. But more than anything she loved spending time with her family teaching them how to cook and sharing her recipes, especially her famous cinnamon rolls.
If Camille wasn't traveling or cooking, she was probably decorating for the holidays. She loved celebrating every holiday from Easter to Halloween, but her favorite was Christmas. Camille would fill her home full of red and green and Santa's everywhere, which she passed on to her family.
Camille was a dedicated philanthropist serving on the board of the Tulsa Arthritis Foundation. She was also heavily involved in the Alzheimer's Association.
Camille was preceded in death by her husband Ray Thomas Benson, her parents, Vern and Irene Lay, sister June Henry, and brother H.C. Lay.
Survivors include son Steve Benson and son Doug Benson. She also leaves behind three grandchildren: Dr. Molly Benson Dubois and husband Colin Dubois, Patrick Benson, and Hailey Benson.
A private celebration of life is being held on August 22nd 2021 at 12pm at a family home.
