Carl Earl Patterson passed away October 12, 1979, at the age of 78. He was born on a farm near Pauls Valley, Ok in Indian Territory, on February 15,1901, to Henry and Mollie Patterson. Carl was married to Dayne Elizabeth Patterson, and a member of First Presbyterian Church, Tulsa, OK. He graduated from The University of Tulsa in 1926, and took a position with Shell Petroleum Co. in Maracaibo, Venezuela that same year. Carl returned to the United States in 1931 and received a Master's Degree in English from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. He then taught English at Central High School in Tulsa, OK from 1933-1939. Carl then took a position as Supervisor of Transportation and Delivery with Creole Petroleum Co., a subsidiary of Standard Oil Co., in Caripito, Venezuela in 1939. After returning to the United States in 1942, he worked for American Oil Co. as Superintendent of Employee Relations in Houston, TX and Supervisor of Training and Development in Tulsa, OK, where he remained until his retirement in 1965. Carl is survived by his wife; a son, Dr. Donald F. Patterson of Philadelphia, PA; two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Linton of Los Angeles, CA and Mrs. Clarissa Palmer of Phoenix, AZ; two brothers, Mr. Floyd Patterson of San Francisco, CA and Mr. Wilson Patterson of San Francisco, CA; and two grandsons.
