Carol B. O'Rear was born in Thomasville, Georgia on September 10, 1929 and died in Tulsa on Saturday, June 22, 2024. She was the daughter of James and Etta Virginia Buie and was preceded in death by her sister, Hope Ethier of Dunwoody, Georgia. She met her husband, Charles J. O'Rear in Atlanta, Georgia at Druid Hills Baptist Church in February of 1948. They were married on June 14, 1949 and enjoyed married life for 64 years. They had three children, and between various moves for her husband's career, they lived in Louisiana, Oklahoma, and New Jersey, and finally made their way back to Tulsa. Carol was an active member of First Baptist Tulsa, and served as a children's Sunday School teacher for many years. She enjoyed a number of hobbies including sewing, quilting, cooking, gardening, painting, and reading. She also enjoyed fellowship with many Christian friends and participated in various groups over the years. She had a strong Christian faith and took great pleasure in raising her family and caring for her home. She is survived by her loving family: her son Charles, Jr. of Tulsa; daughter Sandra Gail and husband Kemper of Centennial, CO; son Mark and wife Alison of Highlands Ranch, CO; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; Haley and Nathan French and sons, Ezra and Boaz; Michael and Elizabeth O'Rear and children Caroline, Ellie Hope, and James Warren; Tripp Hipple; Kyle and Sarah O'Rear and children Ayden, Holly, and Evelyn; Nate O'Rear, Audrey O'Rear, and Carly O'Rear. The family suggests that any donations in her memory be made to Caring Center Downtown of First Baptist Tulsa.
