Obituary

Carole Lu Matheson, the daughter of Alden and Luella Grassman, was born on January 9, 1938 in Enid, Oklahoma. She grew up on a farm in Marshall, Oklahoma and attended St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church with her parents and sister, Janie Castator. She graduated in 1955 as Valedictorian of Marshall High School and from there she studied accounting at Oklahoma State University where she met the love of her life, Max Matheson. Max and Carole were married on September 13, 1959. Max and Carole then moved to Sumner, Oklahoma where they began their careers together as teachers. They later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where they raised their three sons, Matt David Matheson, Mark Darin Matheson, and Derek Mikel Matheson. Carole began working for The Williams Company as a CPA and retired after 37 years to continue running her and Max's own business, Matheson Pecan Ranch. Carole dearly loved cooking, farming, reading, and, most of all, spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years Max Matheson; son, Matt David Matheson, and his wife, Angela, of Tulsa; son, Mark Darin Matheson, and his wife, Donya, of Sapulpa; son, Derek Mikel Matheson, and his wife, Chrysti, of Owasso; granddaughters, Macy Matheson, Harley Matheson, Taylor Matheson, Mattie Matheson, Kenley Matheson, McKenna Matheson, and Remi Matheson, and grandsons, Marek Matheson, Max Matheson, and Chase Duke; and sister, Janie Castator.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She left this life for her eternal home on July 1, 2020. A private family graveside service will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery on July 6, 2020. A celebration of life service will be announced at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Angelman Foundation in honor of her granddaughter, Remi. https://can2020.everydayhero.com/us/remi
