Carolyn Callaway Noland, aged 75 of Del Rio, Texas, passed away on September 8th 2017 at Methodist Texas Hospital after complications arising from her long battle with cancer and recent heart issues. Carolyn was born in Denver, Colorado on December 15, 1941. She attended elementary and high school at Orleans, Nebraska and graduated salutatorian of the Class of 1960. She went on to attend the University of Kansas at Lawrence, Kansas where she majored in English.
She was married to Dan Noland, also of Orleans, Nebraska on September 21, 1963. Their fifty-fourth wedding anniversary would have only been days away. Carolyn worked for two different companies during her early career but spent thirty-two years working for the former Amoco Oil Co in Tulsa. After retiring from Amoco in December of 1999, she managed her husband's graphic design business for over ten years. During these years she traveled with her husband throughout the States as well as into Canada and Mexico. During her final years, while living in Del Rio, she was active with the Friends of the Library, Val Verde County Library Board and served as President of the Del Rio Art League. Carolyn's interests were broad and varied. For decades she collected dragonfly paraphernalia; jewelry, medallions, metal and glasswork, and about anything that portrayed dragonflies. Weaving and spinning were very relaxing for her and genealogy, computers, photography and books never ceased to be high on her list of enjoyment. Unknown to many, Carolyn also had an almost childlike fascination for kaleidoscopes.
Carolyn is survived by her husband Dan of Del Rio, one daughter, Erin, son-in-law Matt Cummings, a grandson, Devon Cummings, all of Tulsa, one brother, James and his wife Barb of Wichita and a sister, Sandra, as well as nieces and nephews and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Velma and Merle Callaway and a granddaughter, Kisha.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations that will assist those displaced by hurricane Harvey to the JJ Watt foundation in Houston, TX at jjfoundation.org.
A ceremony celebrating Carolyn's life will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Memorial Park Chapel, located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Graveside services will immediately follow the ceremony. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233
