Carrell Edward Tallent, Sr., 80, passed away on June 20, 2018, at home in Tulsa. Carrell was born on August 25, 1937, in Anadarko, Oklahoma, to Rannel and Jannie (Johnson) Tallent. He had one younger brother, Terry, whom he dearly loved.
Carrell married his high school sweetheart, Mary Carlene Crow, on June 22, 1956. They raised four children, Carrell, Jr.; Karen; Kathy and Denzil.
Carrell's dad took a civilian job at Fort Sill, so the family moved to Lawton, Oklahoma in 1941. Carrell graduated Lawton High School in 1955. He went on to study at Cameron State College.
His first full-time position was a Floor Salesman for Oklahoma Tire & Supply Co. in Lawton. He quickly began moving up the ladder, taking the family to Ada, then Stillwater and on to Oxford, as Manager of the first Mississippi store for the newly named OTASCO. In 1970, the family moved to Tulsa, where Carrell assumed the position as Senior Sporting Goods Buyer in the OTASCO home office. In retirement, he discovered the world of golf, playing five days a week at the Pryor Creek Golf Club.
He achieved the most joy by spending time with his children and grandchildren. Carrell and Carlene created a magical world for their family, filled with special memories. He once stated, "I can't think of a better way to spend my retirement funds than to see my grandchildren run on the beach." And, he and Carlene did just that every summer for 22 years.
Carrell was predeceased by his parents and son in-law, Dr. Greg A. Brownlee. He is survived by his wife, Carlene; children, Carrell, Jr. (Ronda) Tallent, Karen (Arthur) Brownlee Campbell, Kathy (Ward) Oliphant and Denzil (Lisa) Tallent, all of Tulsa; grandchildren, Chenelle (Jeremy) Tallent McClain, Tulsa; Yvonne Tallent, Redlands, CA; Alexis (Christopher) Brownlee McGehee, Tulsa; Mary Kathryn (Steven) Brownlee Doughty, Tulsa; Phillip (Breanna) Campbell, AbuDhabi, UAE; Katie (Jeff) Morgan, Spring, TX; Tyler (Cathy) Oliphant, Clarksville, TN; ; Kevin Oliphant, Tulsa; Lauren (William) Tallent Haskell, Bartlesville; Rachel Tallent, Tulsa, and six great-grandchildren, Rylan and Claire McClain; Annalise and Lillian Campbell; Grace and Ryan Morgan. He is also survived by his brother, Terry (Jenny) Tallent, Tulsa; two nieces, Tracey (Ben) Tallent Irons, Phoenix, AZ; Mallory (Eric) Tallent Roberts, Oklahoma City; great niece and nephews, Makayla Rose Roberts and Henry Alden and Charlie Edward Irons.
