Carrie Denise Smith Veteto was born January 19, 1962 to Harlan and Mary Smith. She was raised in Edmond, Oklahoma, where she lived with her family until she married and moved to Tulsa. Carrie attended Edmond public schools all twelve years, graduating from Edmond Memorial High School in 1980. She attended Oklahoma Christian University and graduated in 1984. While at Oklahoma Christian, she met Ken Veteto and they married in August 1984. Following their wedding, they moved to Tulsa where Ken finished medical school and set up his practice.
Carrie was preceded in death by her husband, Ken. She is survived by two children, son, Cody of Edmond and daughter, Carissa of Tulsa. She is also survived by her parents, Harlan and Mary Smith of Edmond, three brothers: Dan and wife Cecilia of Guthrie, Randy and wife Helen of Edmond and Ron of Oklahoma City, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Carrie was a loving wife and mother. Her children were her life. The family loved to travel, especially to Colorado. Carrie loved to scrapbook, especially with pictures of her children and the trips they took. She did cross-stitch with many of her framed projects decorating her home. She loved her Bunko group and enjoyed the trips she took with them. Time spent with her Tuesday morning Bible study group was very special to her.
For the past four years, Carrie volunteered at St. Francis Children's Hospital. Every Monday she loved on children and worked in the gift shop every Friday.
Carrie was an active member of Park Plaza church of Christ. She was baptized as a young girl at the Edmond church of Christ and was an active member of the youth group. She is still friends with many from that youth group. Loving and worshiping God was a necessity of her life and she and Ken made it a priority to teach their children to make God a part of their lives.
Carrie will be greatly missed by her children who loved her immensely, her parents who are so proud of her, the remainder of her family who has always loved her with all of their hearts and her many friends who loved her shared their lives with her.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial can be made to Oklahoma Christian University.
