Obituary

Catherine D. Isom was born on December 11, 1940 in Glasgow, Scotland to parents Henrietta and James Curry. She passed away in Tulsa, Oklahoma on February 19th 2025 at age 84. Catherine was known to her friends and family as Irene.

Irene grew up in Glasgow, Scotland and Derbyshire, England. She was a good student and did well in school. She married in her early 20s and immigrated to America. They moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where Irene became a dental assistant. In 1975 she became a US citizen. After a divorce, she married her second husband Perry Isom. She worked as a dental assistant over 45 years and retired in 2014. Irene and her sister Doris both loved and trained dogs. Together they opened Mid-Town Dog Training School. Irene had a beautiful spirit and possessed never ending energy, aways a delight to be around. Her sense of humor and infectious laugh invariably lifted the mood. Although dogs were her first joy, she had many other hobbies such as listening to music, sailing, racewalking, reading, word puzzles, bird watching. She enjoyed spending vacations at the beach with family, friends and of course her dogs. Irene made the best shortbread every Christmas for her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father James Curry, stepfather Robert (Bob) McAulay, mother Henrietta McAulay, all from Scotland; her beloved husband Perry Isom III (Buddy), her brother in-law Jim Bell, brother in-law Phillip Isom, stepson Greg Isom, and nephew Iain Bell.
