Catherine (Katie) Lauren Burdette (nee Gaylor), 37, of Tulsa, OK, suddenly went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 18, 2022 at Ascension St. John Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, aunt, niece, sister, cousin, granddaughter, and friend.
Katie was born on July 20, 1984 in Claremore, OK to Lisa (Parkey) McCool and Ricky Lee Gaylor. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School (2002), Oklahoma University (2006), where she earned a B.A. in French, and Covenant Theological Seminary (2013), where she earned an M.A. in Religion and Culture. She met her husband, Joshua Burdette, in 2007 while they were teaching English in Trujillo, Peru with Peru Mission and they married on July 05, 2008 in Sand Springs, OK. Their mutual call to ministry took them to cities all over the United States. Her proudest achievement was always her three beautiful children.
Katie loved languages, cooking, travel, hiking, and being with her friends and family. She has lived all over the world as a missionary, teacher, student advisor, pastor's wife, and mother. She was known for her quick smile, her unending hospitality to others, and her abundant kindness. To know Katie was to love her.
Katie was motivated by her love for Jesus and the good news of his grace toward an undeserving world. She carried that grace to her children and husband in ordinary ways every day and to everyone she met. Her passing will leave a massive void in this world for years to come.
