CB Fisher passed from this life into the presence of his Lord on March 17, 2016, while recovering from triple bypass heart surgery. CB was born in Midland County, Texas on January 13, 1933.
CB was born and raised in a 3 room house owned by his grandfather, Max. His family rented and farmed cotton on 320 acres of land during his childhood. He graduated from Garden City High School in May of 1950 where he was a popular boy who played sports and excelled at academics. He still enjoyed attending reunions to visit with his classmates. After graduation he attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. He paid for his own college expenses using money he had earned and saved. In 1939 his parents gave him a heifer calf and when he was old enough to drive a tractor, they would give him 5 or 10 acres of land to farm and allowed him to keep the profits. Cattle sales, cotton sales, and income from jobs worked while attending Tech, funded his college expenses. CB received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance in May of 1954.
During employment at his first job out of college, Commercial Credit Corporation, he was transferred to Tulsa, Oklahoma. That same month and year, July 1955, he met Louise Springer at The Nogales Avenue Church of Christ. In December 1955, CB was drafted into the Army. That same month, while on Christmas leave, CB and Louise were engaged to be married. In May of 1956, he was ordered to serve in Korea. After his service ended in September 1957, he and Louise were married on November 22, 1957. He wrote, "Our lives were filled with merriment and joy and blessings from God."
CB had a successful professional life in the oil industry, working for Amerada Petroleum, Terra Resources, and finally Pacific Enterprises. He was a Petroleum Landman and a manager of the Land Records Department. He retired in June 1990.
CB was a devout Christian and a member of The Crestview Church of Christ in Tulsa since 1955. He was very active in the life of the church over the years. He enjoyed spending countless hours doing the work of the Lord. In addition to his activities at his home congregation, CB filled preaching appointments throughout northeast Oklahoma, including churches in Tulsa, Claremore, Oklahoma City, Jay, and Sand Springs.
Second only to his devotion to God was his devotion to his family. CB and Louise adored each other and would often sit and hold hands. Their friends usually spoke their names in tandem, "Louise and CB". They had 38 wonderful years of marriage, until Louise's death in 1995. In addition to being a devoted husband and man of God, he was devoted to his daughter and son, grandson, granddaughter, and most recently his great granddaughter. Anyone who spoke to him since the birth of Paisley Louise, knew that she brought a spark to his heart and life.
If you knew CB, you knew that he loved to visit with people and tell stories. You better have some time set aside if you were going to visit with him. Always a gentleman, subdued, and a bit stoic, he was able to amuse you and win you over as a friend.
CB leaves behind many friends and family members. He is survived by his son, Mark Fisher of Hartford, Connecticut; grandson, Kyle Fitzpatrick of Tulsa; Ashley Fitzpatrick, Kyle's wife; great granddaughter, Paisley Louise Fitzpatrick; brother, Bobby Fisher of Texas; Liz Fisher, Bobby's wife. He is preceded in death by his wife, Louise Fisher; daughter, Kathy Louise Fitzpatrick; brother, Carol Fisher; and his parents.
If you would like to honor CB with a memorial donation, you may make a contribution in his name to Cal Farley's, PO Box 1890, Amarillo, Texas. Cal Farley's provides professional programs and services in a Christ-centered atmosphere to strengthen families and support the overall development of children.
