Rama Charlene Hoy
Charlene Hoy, 80, of Tulsa, Oklahoma died Monday, October 21, from injuries sustained in a car accident. Charlene was born at home on May 19, 1933, near West Mineral, Kansas to Charles Franklin Barnes and Marjorie Faye Barnes. Charlene graduated from Labette County Community High School in Altamont, Kansas in 1951. She married Duane Hoy on January 1, 1953 in Oswego, Kansas. Charlene worked as a secretary for Union Gas for many years.
Family was the pride of Charlene?s life. She was mother to four loving daughters and three sons-in-law: Debbie and Keith Henry of Phoenix, Arizona, Cheryl and Don Barker of Coffeyville, Kansas, Janice Hoy of Lee?s Summit, Missouri, and Carolyn and Dave Strickland of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was Grandma to Aaron, Kristin, Adam, Kelli, Joanna, Cody, and Gavin and Great-Grandma to Samuel, Emmalyse, Micah, Benjamin, Claire, and Luke. She will be deeply missed by all.
Charlene came to know the Lord at 14 years of age and followed him all her life. She and Duane recently moved to Tulsa from Nixa, Missouri where she was a member of First Baptist Church and served as the church librarian . After moving to Tulsa, she became a member of Woodland Acres Baptist Church. Charlene loved flowers and loved to play the piano. She enjoyed shopping with her daughters and reading historical fiction. She was known as an excellent cook. Her family especially loved her homemade noodles.
Charlene is survived by her husband Duane, daughters Debbie Henry, Cheryl Barker, Janice Hoy, and Carolyn Strickland. She was preceded in death by her parents and a great-granddaughter Elizabeth.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, October 24, 2013, Woodland Acres Baptist Church.
