Obituary

Charles Lee Archambo was born September 6,1932 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma and went to his heavenly home on March 2, 2024. He was the youngest son of Frank and Elizabeth Archambo. Charley was a graduate of Central High School, Class of 1951 and received a BS degree at the University of Tulsa 1956. He played on the TU Basketball Team and was a Lifetime Member of the TU Letterman's Association. Charley proudly served in the US Army at Ft. Carson, Colorado. After the Army he went to work for his Dad alongside his brothers as Agents for Atlas Van Lines and later joined Clyde McGinnis, Sam Ming and Bob Duncan as co-owners of Bucks Sporting Goods, one of the oldest sporting goods stores in Oklahoma. He met his wife, Sue Oakes on a blind date and they were married for 65 years. Together they raised son Jay and daughter Karen. He played sports, loved coaching kids basketball and was a High School Basketball Referee for 10 years. He refereed the 1st Basketball "Tournament of Champions" at Memorial High School in Tulsa. He enjoyed his hunting and fishing trips with family and with friends. Most importantly, Charley loved his family and treasured his time with his children, grandchildren and great-granddaughters. He was a member of Asbury Methodist Church and active in the Wordfinders Class.

Charley is survived by his wife, Sue Archambo; his son and daughter-in-law Jay and Vanessa Archambo; his daughter and son-in-law Karen and Mitch McNutt; grandson and wife, Caleb and Paige Archambo; grandson and wife, Ryan and Hannah Archambo and granddaughter and husband, Michele and Ryan Lewis; great-granddaughters, Ila Archambo and Lucia Lewis; brother-in-law and wife, Tom and Barbara Oakes and sister-in-law Ferrelyn Oakes and numerous nieces and nephews and friends. Preceded in death by parents, Frank and Elizabeth Archambo; brothers, Theodore, Hubert and Carl Archambo and brother-in-law, William Oakes.

The family expresses appreciation of the kindness, support and love from the staff at The Grove at Midtown Memory Care Facility and from family and friends.

Service will be Saturday, March 16 at 11am, Asbury Church Columbarium (outside) with reception following inside Church. 6767 S Mingo Road, Tulsa Oklahoma 74133.
