Obituary

Charles John Chappel, affectionately known as "Grandpa" and "Chuck" to his friends, passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on March 7, 2025. Born on November 10, 1947, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he lived a life marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and an unwavering work ethic.
Chuck was born to Frank Edward Chappel and Lizzie Ellen Smith and was one of four children. He graduated from Central High School in 1966, a pivotal year that also saw him meet the love of his life, Sandra Pridemore. Their enduring love story began with marriage on December 9, 1966.
Driven by a strong sense of duty, Chuck joined the United States Marine Corps in 1966, serving bravely as a Vietnam veteran from 1967 to 1969. His commitment to education led him to earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Tulsa on June 2, 1974.
Together, Chuck and Sandra built a loving home and raised two daughters, Amanda Chappel Kennedy and Becky Chappel Rice. He was a devoted father, and his love extended to his cherished grandchildren, with whom he enjoyed countless memorable moments. He also possessed a quick wit, often delighting those around him with his infamous "dad jokes."
Chuck embraced life with a variety of hobbies. He found joy in traveling, the thrill of snow skiing, the tranquility of fishing, and the excitement of Oklahoma football, above all, the precious time spent with his family. He was known for his tirelessly productive life and his determination to provide a better life for his family, a goal he pursued with passion and success. Throughout his career, he excelled as a regional sales manager in the complex field of mechanical valves and piping systems.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Edward Chappel and Lizzie Ellen Smith, and two siblings. He leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication in his beloved wife, Sandra Chappel; his daughters, Amanda Chappel Kennedy and son-in-law Brian Kennedy, and Becky Chappel Rice and son-in-law Brad Rice; his cherished grandchildren, Holden and Hannah Kennedy, and Noah and Jax Rice; and a host of other family and friends who will miss him dearly.
A visitation will be held 5pm-7pm, Thursday, March 13, 202 at Moore Funeral Home Southlawn (9350 E 51st St, Tulsa, OK 74145). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oklahoma Folds of Honor or Disabled American Veterans (dav.org) in Chuck's memory.
Chuck's memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him. His strength, his love, and his dedication to his family will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have him in their lives.
