Obituary

Charles Edward Cox, known as Chuck, was received into Heaven on September 1, 2021. Chuck was born September 12, 1949, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to Gid and Kathryn Cox. He was the last of four brothers. He talked about them, until the very end, and said that he was ready to go home to see them. He proudly served in the 82nd Airborne. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1980 with a master's degree in Health and Leisure Science. He was a proud OSU grad, and a member of the Alumni group known as the KOK-DADI's, never missing a reunion in 40 years. Go Pokes!
Chuck retired from the United States Postal Service as a clerk, were he met his "lovely wife" Danna Cupps and shared 30 years of marriage. One of their greatest blessings was their son Thomas Gid Cox of Tulsa Oklahoma. Coach Chuck was one of Tom's coaches in so many sports. Chuck dreamed that his child would go to OSU as well. He did, and he was so proud. Chuck knew it was important to raise his son in faith. He attended Memorial Drive United Methodist Church as a child, where he played basketball, which started his love for sports.
He was a member of Skelly Drive Baptist Church, were one of his happiest memories was watching his son's baptism. He loved taking him on church camping trips with the family gangs, boat rides, fishing and food. He was all about that! He was an avid fisherman and believed every child should have a chance to catch a fish. And he is fishing with his Father now! Chuck was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in his later years.
