Obituary

Charles Edward "Ed" Fox (86) passed away peacefully May 17, 2024 with his family by his side.

Born in Oklahoma City, Ed spent his childhood in various locations as his father was a Navy man. As a young adult, he studied at the University of Georgia before enlisting in the U.S. Army. Ed had three girls who he always made sure they knew how important they were to him. Family and friends were his priority.

After many travels, Ed settled in Tulsa, where he met the love of his life, Mary. He led a full life and had more hobbies than he had time for, even after retiring from Tulsa World after 27 years. Ed had a passion for acting and participated in community theater, even starring in a nationwide commercial for New York Life Insurance in 1974. An avid golfer, he never stopped working on his game. Always up for new adventures, Ed tried skiing at the age of 54 and loved it, beginning a lifelong tradition of annual ski trips with his daughter. He also took up motorcycle riding in mid-life and was an active member of the Tulsa HOG chapter. He even found time to learn how to play the harmonica and guitar.

Ed's life was rich with the love of family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Mary E. Fox; three daughters, Lynn Cary, Cheryl Catrair (Wes), and Angie Fox (Robyn); two "bonus" sons, Justin Kirkland (Sydney) and Scott Kirkland (Summer); as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother, Beryl Fox; his father, Melvin Fox; his brother, John Nichols; and his granddaughter, Jackie Burroughs.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Moore's Southlawn Chapel.
