Charles Thompson Geltz "Tom"
Born December 15th, 1934 in Joplin, Missouri to Charles and Ula Mae (Justice) Geltz. Tom departed this world after a valiant struggle with cancer on March 4, 2019. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Lettie Lee (Weil) Geltz. Children Keena Maxwell, Deena Price, Craig Geltz, Kevin Geltz and his wife Danette Geltz. He was surrounded by a large loving family including grandchildren, Nicole Hiebert and her husband Greg, Jason Maxwell, Marshall Price and his wife Amber, Melissa Price, Melinda Shaffer and her husband Jamison, Ryan Morris and his fiance Britney McGinnis, Stacy Michelle Geltz, Sara McGuffin, and her husband Alex. Tom was blessed to have 6 great grandchildren Robert, Hannah, Brylee, Declan, Callum, and Leon.
Tom retired from McDonald Douglas Aircraft in 1996 after 33 1/2 years of employment. He traveled extensively towards the end of his career flying to all parts of the world. In 1992 he became a member of Akdar Shrine. He was an active member of the Akdar Shrine where he serviced as treasurer for 5 years, assistant director, and director. He was president at the time the Greeters Association held their CSSGA in Tulsa and served on the hospital committee advisors. He made numerous trips taking children to and from appointments to the Shriners Children's Hospital in Galveston and Shreveport. This was truly a heartfelt act of love helping the children and their families. Tom volunteered his time supporting the Akdar Shrine Circus and every ceremonial program up to the time his health would not allow him to attend. Tom was also active in Tulsa Scottish Rite since 1992. Became a service Knight in 1998 and received his KCCH in 2001. Tom was invited to become a member of the Royal Order of Scotland in 2002.
Tom entered Fellowship Lodge No. 345, A.F.& A.M. in Joplin Missouri was initiated an Entered Apprentice on 11/26/1958, Passed to Fellowcraft on 1/17/1966, Raised to Master Mason on 2/24/1966. His grandson's Jason Maxwell and Marshall Price presented his 50 year pin June 6, 2016.
Tom's was referred to as an energizer bunny and could talk the ear off anyone willing to listen. His stories were legendary. His family and friends will miss him greatly. To the 45th Court family the mayor has retired.
Services will be held at Moore's Southlawn on March 8th, 2019 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel. Family visitation will be held at the same location on Thursday, March 7th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to the Transportation Fund at Akdar Shrine of Tulsa, 2808 S Sheridan Road, Tulsa, OK 74129.
