Obituary

Charley Smith, 87, of Tulsa, OK passed away peacefully at home with family at his side, Oct. 10, 2016, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Charley was born in Stigler, OK, March 22, 1929. He graduated from Coweta High School and attended Oklahoma Accounting Business School. He worked in Tulsa as an accountant. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After discharge, he worked for McDonald Douglas and for the U. S. Postal Service as a letter carrier.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and reading but more especially he enjoyed going to football games and playing with his two sons and four grandsons.
Charley was preceded in death by his parents, Bonnie Ausborn, and Adar Myrtle Smith and his brothers, Clarence, Leon, and Waukeen Smith. Survivors include his wife, Verlean Smith; sons, Charles Gregory Smith, and his fiance'e Pheadra Zieke of Tulsa, and Gary Paul Smith of Steamboat Springs, CO; grandsons, Adam Jay, Jason Cody, and Anthony Dillon Smith of CO, and Mason Shackleford of Tulsa; sisters, Wilma Hargraves and Loeta Wilburn of Broken Arrow; brother-in-law, Frank Darais Jr. and sister-in-law Oma Dee Darais of Richardson, TX; brother-in-law, Jay, and sister-in-law, Melba Vaughn of Searcy, AR; and many nieces and nephews.
