Obituary

Charlotte Jacqualyn Lester (Wright), lovingly known as "Granny," of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on May 6, 2026 at the age of 83.

Her memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Friday, May 15, 2026 at Moore Southlawn Funeral Home in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with burial to follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Henryetta, Oklahoma. A visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 9:00am.

Charlotte was born in Bristol, Virginia on June 15, 1942, to the late Sheldon "Jack" Wright and Cletus Cravens Wright. While she was born on the Virginia side of Bristol, her family resided in Bristol, Tennessee before later living in Panama and then settling in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was the oldest of three sisters and attended Central High School in Tulsa.

Charlotte married Wayne Lester on June 15, 1959, and together they shared 56 years of marriage filled with many chapters, moves, challenges, memories, and adventures. Throughout Wayne's engineering career, their family lived in several places including Wichita, Kansas, Buffalo, New York, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Springfield, Missouri, Dallas, Texas, and Alliance, Nebraska. Following Wayne's retirement, they moved to Shell Knob, Missouri on Table Rock Lake. Following Wayne's passing in 2015, Charlotte returned to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she spent the last several years of her life.

Throughout her life, Charlotte balanced raising their daughters and caring for her family alongside a variety of professional roles through the many moves and seasons of life they shared together. During her years in Dallas, she began working in loan processing before taking on additional responsibilities and building many meaningful relationships throughout the company. She also took great pride in her time at Kraft in Springfield, where she advanced into a role in quality control.

She treasured the time she spent with her family through the years, including the special moments caring for and making memories with her grandchildren. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the greatest joys of her life. She was incredibly proud of each and every one of them and loved staying connected to their lives, milestones, and memories.

Charlotte is survived by her daughters, Sherri (Robert) Arend of Loch Lloyd, Missouri, Debbie (Tom) Baldwin of Springfield, Missouri, and Julie Lester of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren Alexandra Arend, Michael (Lexi) Arend, Nicholas Arend, Lucas (Jessica) Wilson, Samantha Duffy, Jacob Duffy, and Charlotte Ann Saunders (Mikey); and nine great grandchildren, Grace, Harper, Leila, Kael, Kerrigan, Halynn, Kira, Aiden, and Oliver. She is also survived by her sisters Nancy Ward of Sand Springs, Oklahoma and Karen (Will) Streetman of Tulsa, Oklahoma, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wayne Lester; her parents, Sheldon "Jack" Wright and Cletus Cravens Wright; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl F. and Julia Lester; granddaughter Lylli Saunders; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Janetta "Sissy" and Kenneth Burgess; brother-in-law Dewayne Ward; sister-in-law Delores Lester; niece Amy Lester; and other beloved family members and friends who welcomed her home.
