Cheryl Ann Mallon was born on December 1st, 1945, in Muskogee, Okla. Cheryl attended Sacred Heart Catholic school through her elementary and middle school years and graduated from Muskogee High School in 1963. Cheryl went on to Northeastern State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Therapy from Oklahoma State University.
Cheryl taught the 4th grade at Garfield Elementary and later at Pratt elementary where she made several lifelong friends two who are here today, Marcy and Margaret. She talked about the students frequently, we heard many stories over the years. After teaching for many years, and receiving her Masters, she started a successful business consulting with the Social Security Administration where she assessed individuals for social security and disability benefits. Cheryl's success in this role was highlighted by the fact that she was requested by several local judges for her expertise in her assessments. After being diagnosed with a chronic health condition, Cheryl retired from this work and for the last few years of her professional career, went back to substitute teaching, where again we heard many stories.
Cheryl had an uncanny talent for personal gift giving. The gifts and cards she gave were only for the person who received them, and you felt that. She was an amazing cook/pastry chef and when asked "what can I bring?" was given the most difficult assignment because she could produce. Cheryl lived the last two years through a pandemic living with my mother, Lori, where they enjoyed watching the birds, a shared interest in certain television shows and political beliefs. So nice in a time of pandemic. She had a love of animals and especially her dogs, Heather and Anna Belle her Scotties and Dave, her black lab from a litter of Golden Retrievers and finally Winston, her Corgi.
Cheryl is survived by Lori, her mother,2 sisters; Pam Kiser and husband Ken, Deb Pirdy and her husband Jim, 4 nephews, Sam Peevy, Russ Peevy, Travis Pirdy, and Spencer Pirdy, 1 great nephew, 3 great nieces.
