Chester Wise "Chet" Blair, a lifelong resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on August 6, 2025, in Tulsa at the age of 87.
Born on November 28, 1937, in Tulsa to Sam W. Blair and Lucille M. (Kozak) Blair, Chet spent his life rooted in the community he loved. He began his career in the machine shop industry at 20th Century Manufacturing, which later became Gardner Denver. Over the course of four decades, Chet held various positions within the company and ultimately retired as plant superintendent in 2001. His remarkable dedication to his work was evident - he missed only three days of work over a span of 40 years.
Chet married Barbara Dean Brannen, with whom he shared 69 years of companionship and family life. Together they raised two daughters, Tina Denise married to Todd Chambers and Toni Renae married to Larry Martinez. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Christy Marie Shipley, Heather Nicole Goehri, and William Benjamin Garrison, Jr., and great grandchildren Ella Grace Riera, Mason Theodore Goehri, Aiden Douglas Garrison, Gracen Andrew Garrison, Scarlett Elizabeth Garrison, and a new baby Goehri expected soon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Lucille Blair; his brother, Sam W. Blair, Jr.; and his niece, Kelly Blair Adkins.
In his younger years, Chet enjoyed fishing and bird hunting. He was also an accomplished bowler who achieved a perfect 300 game in 1967 - a proud moment that reflected both skill and passion for the sport. Later in life, golf became his favorite pastime. After retiring from Gardner Denver, he continued to stay active by working at the Owasso Golf and Athletic Club, where he could be found enjoying the game he loved.
Chet was a member of First Baptist Church Broken Arrow, where he found spiritual grounding through his life. His unwavering work ethic, love for outdoor sports, and devotion to family leave behind a lasting impression on all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who mourn his passing and joy to those who celebrate a life well lived.
