Obituary

Ellen Boswell, 92, died peacefully Friday, July 29, 2022 in Broken Arrow, OK. She was born August 29, 1929, in Cincinnati, OH and was the second daughter born to James Leo and Mary Alice (Rawley) Molitor. Before moving to Tulsa at the age of ten, she lived in Milford, Ohio surrounded by her father's large family. She attended Marquette Catholic School where she met many life-long friends. After graduating from Marquette High School in 1947, she attended nurses training at St. John Hospital. Ellen married the love of her life, Bill Boswell on November 5, 1949, sharing 55 years and six children together.

Ellen was to be a faithful and loving Catholic wife and mother. She loved her family, her faith, her many, many dear friends. What she cherished most was her family. Despite her busy life, Ellen was always involved in her children's school activities. Ellen was very proud of her children and never missed an event and cheering them on from the sidelines. This dedication and love continued with her grandchildren. Ellen loved cooking and hosting festivities for her large family. She spent hours pursuing magazines and cookbooks for a great recipe to try. Her favorite restaurant was Ricardo's with a hot plate of chili rellenos and plenty of chips and salsa.

Ellen was very active in the Madalene Women's Club, holding many offices including being President. She was involved in preparing a dish to ease the difficult times of many friends, parishioners, and Birthright of Tulsa and was especially known for her chocolate sheet cakes. After her children were grown, she was employed part-time at the University of Tulsa in the office of Petroleum Abstracts and enjoyed working there with long-time friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Bill; her sister, Mary Elizabeth Molitor. Ellen is survived by her six children: Chris (Linda) Boswell of Ardmore, OK; Terry (Ron) Whisenhunt of Coweta, OK; Marcia (Richard) McCutcheon of Lake George, MN; Mark (Sharon) of Broken Arrow, OK; Carol Boswell of Tulsa, OK; and Erin (Jerry) Walston of Tulsa, OK. She is also survived by her twelve grand-children: Kyle (Jennifer) Boswell, Brian (Luvice) Hummingbird, Brandon (Diana) Hummingbird, Jason (Tiffney) Whisenhunt, Shelly (Jon) Bliss, Erica O'Hern, Justin (Shannon) McCutcheon, Brandy Boswell, Jennifer (Dustin) Carter, Haley Walston (Mario Capuozzo), Gracie Walston and Garett Walston. She is also survived by her twenty great-grandchildren: Peyton Boswell and Kenzie Obst; Ashtin (Sam) Robertson; Nicole, David, William and Jonathan Hummingbird; Kara and Curtis Whisenhunt; Madison and Jacob Bliss; Colin and Aiden O'Hern; Elisa and Lauren McCutcheon; Taylor (Mikel) Jones; Demond and Orlando Boswell; and Kyra and Hayden Carter; and two great-great- grandchildren: Rylie Hummingbird and Adrian Jones.
