Obituary

Life-long Tulsan and oil industry leader, George "Clayton" Broach passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of October 18, 2014, one day prior to his 86th birthday. Clayton was born on October 19, 1928 to Roland Mosby Broach and Anna Zella Goff (Broach). Clayton was the third child of four with two older brothers, Roland "Dick" Broach (Deceased), Merrill Broach and a younger sister, Elizabeth Wright. A dynamic work ethic and drive was established in his early teens and continued without interruption. After graduating from Tulsa Central High School and upon the conclusion of WWII, Clayton was selected to be part of the Tokushima Prefecture Army Military Government Team in Japan and later served during the Korean War as part of a division legal team in Wisconsin. During his service in Japan, he returned to Tulsa in 1947 to marry his sweetheart Louise Cue and became an integral part of the close-knit Cue family. Their charmed marriage lasted 43 years until her death in 1990.
Assisted by the GI Bill, Clayton graduated with a degree in business law from the University of Tulsa with the initial goal of practicing law. Clayton worked for TRECO (The Refinery Engineering Company) during his college studies and soon discovered a passion for engineering that would become his profession in lieu of law. Clayton founded the GC Broach Company in 1960 which continues as a premier supplier of fired heaters with over 2000 installations worldwide. The installations serve as a continuing set of eternal flames and structural monuments in tribute to his legacy.
In 1997, Clayton fell in love and married Virginia "Ginny" Wells (Brown) who became his loving and devoted wife. Clayton is survived by his wife Ginny, his brother Merrill, his sister Elizabeth, his four sons: Christopher Clayton Broach (Mary), Brian Reynolds Broach, Roger Cheston Broach and Bradford Mosby Broach (Amy), 3 step children: John Paul Philippe, Kathy Tomlinson, and Lori Philippe, 15 grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren. Visitation at Moore's Southlawn Chapel will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday October 22, 2014. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday October 23, 2014 at Asbury United Methodist Mason Chapel with graveside service to follow.
