Clifford Walter Hughes, 84, of Tulsa, OK, passed away, Wednesday, June 29, 1977, at St. John Medical Center, Tulsa, OK. He was born on Saturday, April 15, 1893, in Carroll County, Bosworth, MO, to Walter Hughes and Minnie Belle (Neismith) Hughes. Clifford is survived by his second wife, Jennie (Granom) Hughes, of the home; 3 sons, Mel Hughes of Tampa, FL, Ray Hughes of Odessa, TX, and Clifford W. "C. W." Hughes, Jr. of Nederland, TX; 8 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Ernest Baker of Stroud, OK, and Mrs. Harry Ingram of Sun Valley, CA; 3 brothers, Del Hughes of Anderson, MO; Earl Hughes of Perkins, OK, and Willie Hughes of Ft. Worth, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Estelle H. (Buller) Hughes, whom he was married to from 1914-1941, until her death; and a lifetime of friends. Clifford will be greatly missed in the days ahead, but his spirit and memories will live on within each of us, because we were privileged to have him in our lives.
