REMEMBERING THE LIFE OF
Henry Clifford Winburn, Jr.
May 8, 1943 - December 21, 2019
My precious husband and our sweet dad, Henry Clifford Winburn, Jr. was born on May 8, 1943 in Amarillo, Texas to Henry Clifford Winburn, the regional meteorologist, and Francis Kathryn Winburn, homemaker. He had a sister, two years older, Kathy Lou Winburn. Clifford graduated from Tascosa High School in 1961. After a year at Amarillo Junior College, Cliff attended the University of Oklahoma and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity, class of 1962.
In 1965, he met his college sweetheart, Diana "Greenie" Greene. She was a freshman and he was a senior. Cliff earned an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and a Juris Doctorate from O.U. Law School in 1968. That summer, he and Greenie married and moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Cliff went to work for Arthur Young and Company as a tax manager and completed his CPA, and Greenie taught school. Fortunately, during the Vietnam era, Cliff was able to get into an Army Reserve Unit and was trained as a medic.
In 1978, he served as CFO and Treasurer of Cotton Petroleum Corporation. That same year his twin daughters, Megan Hope and Melissa Corrine were born on the exact day of his 10th wedding anniversary, Aug. 18. In 1982, Cliff started CompOne Services, Ltd. with (my) Greenie's brother, Jeff Greene. That year his third daughter, Abigail Jane was born.
In 1991, the Winburn family established their residence on acreage in West Tulsa and lived in the "yellow house on the hill" for twenty-eight years. After selling CompOne Services, Ltd. in 2005, Cliff was semi-retired but consulted on start-up companies. He had a passion for golf and played at the Oaks Country Club where he served as President for one term.
Cliff had an unshakable faith in the God of Holy Scriptures and his faith grew and deepened while being a part of Bible Study Fellowship leadership for over twenty-five years. On Dec. 9, 2018, Cliff gave his daughter, Abigail, in marriage to Mike Scott Davis, who was born and raised only twenty miles from Cliff's hometown...two West Texas boys. Cliff loved to read and would share his little factoids with any listener.
On Dec. 21, 2019, God called, Henry Clifford Winburn, Jr. to be with Him this Christmas, while in his study of his new house in Sapulpa. We, Diana "Greenie," Megan, Abigail, and his dog, Minnie Mae were abundantly blessed by his life. Cliff Winburn was loved for many qualities, but tops were his optimistic spirit, his amazing ability to forgive and forget and the first to reach for his wallet to give. He loved the Lord, his family, his friends, the U.S.A, the Sooners and his dog. May he be remembered in your hearts as one of the best.
