Robert Mason Kite passed away peacefully at St. Francis Hospital on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, he was 94. He was born on February 18, 1922 to Florence and Lloyd Kite in Prescott KS. Robert graduated from Prescott High school in 1939. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and brother Milton. He also was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Lucile Wilder. Robert is survived by brothers Alfred and Vernon. Robert and Lucile were blessed with three children, Linda and Randy Wyatt of Tulsa sons, Ronald and wife Julie of Santa Fe NM and Kenneth and wife Debbie of Broken Arrow. There are eight grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Robert received his Bachelor Degree from Kansas State Collage and his Master's in education from the University of Tulsa. Robert moved his family to Tulsa in 1948 where he began his career with Tulsa public schools, starting at Central High school, then when Tulsa public schools opened Tulsa Vo-Tech in 1963 Robert enrolled at OSU taking courses in the new subject of data processing at Vo-Tech he would become Tulsa's first data processing instructor, beginning as a key punch instructor and ending with COBOL and Fortran IV programing 13 years later. Robert retired from Tulsa public schools in 1986.
Robert enlisted in the US navy in 1943, becoming a flight instructor in Pensacola FL. After the end of the war in 1947 he enlisted in the US Naval reserve retiring in 1975 with 33 years of service, with the rank of Commander. In retirement Robert and wife Kay enjoyed ballroom dancing, competing in dance competitions around the country. They also enjoyed traveling all over the world.
Funeral services were held August 8, 2016 at Moore's Southlawn chapel with burial at Floral Haven, veteran's field in Broken Arrow. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233
