Obituary

Eiland, Thomas Craig, celebrated his 67th birthday on November 6th and died peacefully in Tulsa two days later on November 8, 2018. Craig courageously fought a 17 year battle with cancer with his faith in God, a wonderful team of physicians and also his remarkable sense of humor. Craig was a graduate of Will Rogers High School and University of Tulsa. During the 1970's Craig "played for the Tulsa Oilers" - not actually on the baseball team, but rather the organ that provided music and entertainment for the players and fans. He retired from Southwestern Bell/AT&T in 2012 after a 40 year career. He was born in Tulsa and his father, Boyd "B.K." Eiland, also a Southwestern Bell retiree, and his mother, Lillian Eiland preceded him in death. A wonderful husband and devoted father, Craig is survived by his wife of 45 years, Alyne Eiland and his son, Brandon Eiland and wife, Michele; and his daughter Afton Strate and husband, Shawn. Craig loved his five grandchildren so much: Kayla Eiland, 18; Luke Eiland, 6; Griffin Strate, 7; Ellis Strate, 3 and Leland Strate, 5 months. He was active in his neighborhood association, enjoyed taking his family fishing on his boat and playing keyboard for over 40 years with various dance bands including his band, Retrospect, which featured big band music. For ten years Craig and Alyne created children's puppet ministry shows at First Christian Church, Tulsa. He also participated for nine years in various roles as a Jenks High School Band Parent. Craig was very passionate about planning trips and traveling with his family. He was an active member and treasurer of Odyssey Christian Church, Tulsa.
