Crystal (Crys) Compton died Wednesday, February 28, 2013. Crys was born in Grove, OK on October 3, 1937 to Henry (Gus) and Ida Mae Tankersley. She grew up in Pryor, OK and was a 1955 graduate of Pryor High School. She received her R.N. degree from the School of Nursing at Southern Methodist University. Crys both worked and volunteered in the medical community most of her life.



She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Dr. Paul Compton, and three children: son Christopher Compton, Breckenridge, CO; step-daughter Paula Compton Carter and her husband Mike, Tulsa; and step-daughter Pam Compton Winfield and her husband Philip, Mannford, OK. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Lizz Carter, Los Angeles, CA; Cason Carter and his wife Shelley, Tulsa; Jacelyn Ferguson and her husband Brett, Tulsa; and John Winfield, Mannford, OK. ?Grandma Crys? was also so proud of her three great-grandsons and basketball buddies, Luke and Henry Carter, and Jack Ferguson, all of Tulsa. Crys is also survived by three sisters, Opal Currey, Betty Loffer, and Marj West Worley, and numerous nieces and nephews who were like children to her.



Crys was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and one sister -- Odes Stogsdill, Hank Tankersley, Lawrence Tankersley, and Edna Pickering -- and one grandson, Scott Carter.



Services will be held at St. John?s Episcopal Church, 4200 S. Atlanta Place on Wednesday, March 6 at 11 a.m.
