Curtis Elmer Collins Jr. (also known as Bud), a long-time resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on May 25, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Joyce Collins of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and by his parents, Curtis Elmer Collins and Vona Opal Collins, who were long-time residents near Welch, Oklahoma, where Curtis grew up. He was also preceded in death by many of his siblings from various areas across northeastern Oklahoma and southern Kansas.
Curtis is survived by his three children and their families:
Stephanie Spry and her husband, Russell Spry, of Skiatook, OK
Aaron Collins and his wife, Heather Collins, of Jenks, OK
Jonathan Collins and his wife, Teresa Collins, of Sapulpa, OK
He is also survived by his six grandchildren: Garrett Spry, Christopher Spry, Harper Collins, Harlow Collins, Emily Teague and her husband, Caleb Teague, and Jeremiah Collins; as well as two step-grandchildren, Audrey Cruzan and Sebastian Cruzan.
Curtis was a veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve, having served in Vietnam as an Aviation Flight Controls Repairman. During his service, he received the following commendations: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the 1st and 2nd Overseas Bars.
He was a long-time member of Southwood Baptist Church, where he faithfully served for many years as a Sunday school teacher.
Curtis retired from Decision One and enjoyed spending time outdoors. He found joy in activities such as recreational chainsaw work, fishing, repairing lawnmowers, and helping neighbors fix broken items.
