Cynthia Cheek Boyd, age 54, died peacefully in her home, surrounded by family and friends, on April 12, 2016. Cindy was born on September 18, 1961, in Memphis, TN. She grew up in Springfield, MO, and graduated from The Colorado College. Cindy excelled academically, taking pride in having many years of perfect attendance. After college, Cindy moved to Tulsa, OK, working for Sooner Federal and its successors. Cindy helped found the private banking department for Bank of Oklahoma, worked as an independent investment advisor with Barry & Boyd, and then worked on her own. Cindy was a well-respected professional; she was very attentive and her clients became her friends.
At age 27, Cindy married the love of her life, Robert Boyd, with whom she raised two children, Hannah Katherine and Ian Stuart. Cindy was very proud of her children. Cindy had a passion for china and crystal. She collected Depression glass and Laughlin Bluebird china. She had impeccable taste and an eye for design, and a love of the holidays. Cindy also enjoyed watching NFL football and was a fan of Brett Favre and Tom Brady. Cindy had a kind and giving soul.
Cindy was diagnosed with stage IV cancer in August, 2007. She adjusted to her cancer at every step, without complaint, for eight and a half years.
Cindy is survived by her husband, Robert Boyd; her children, Hannah Katherine Boyd and Ian Stuart Boyd; her brother, David Cheek; and her sister, Rebecca Cheek-King.
On Saturday, April 23, friends and family will be gathering for a celebration of life at the home of long time friends Jeff and Luanna Galles, 5148 E 107th St., Tulsa OK. You may stop by and pay your respects anytime between 3:00-5:00 P.M.
