Dale Lynn Atwell passed away in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Saturday, November 2nd at the age of 79.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents Arvel and Shila Atwell.

Dale is survived by his loving wife Gayle Jeanne Atwell of 58 years. They were married in Canton, Oklahoma on December 30th 1960.

Dale is affectionately remembered by his son, Monte Atwell and his wife, Sherry and by his daughter Robin Haney and her husband, Scott. Dale is also remembered by his five grandchildren Ashlee Broad and her husband Michael, Ben Atwell, his wife Meredith and their daughter Eleanor; Tyler Atwell, Ryan Haney and Emily Haney. Dale is also survived by his sister, Carolyn Burchett and her husband Stuart.

Dale was born in Laramie, Wyoming on December 30th, 1939. He graduated from Mutual Oklahoma High School in 1958. He worked for Helmerich & Payne for 44 years and retired in 2005.

Dale enjoyed golfing, fishing, watching old western movies and spending time with his family. He was a simple man with huge personality and an even bigger sense of humor. Each family member fondly remembers being called every year on their birthday with Dale on the other end singing Happy Birthday off-key at the top of his lungs. He had a nickname for everyone and a saying for everything. He was the kind of man to take calls from a wrong number and ask if they wanted to talk anyway. He would wake up every morning at 4 am sharp and wait for the paper boy just before making a pan of yellow grits. He was a tough old man all the way to the end. Dale will be missed for many reasons but the number one is the way he could light up an entire room with his hundreds of funny stories he could tell you time again and again and again.

Visitation will be 4-6 PM, Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Moore's Southlawn, 9350 E. 51st, Tulsa, OK. Memorial service will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 29th & Yale Church of Christ, 2901 S. Yale, Tulsa, OK. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233
