Obituary

Huey Dale Reynolds was born in Carnegie, Oklahoma on September 20, 1944 to Lydia and Huey Reynolds. He passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at the age of 79.

Dale grew up on a farm with his parents and two sisters. He graduated from Carnegie High School in 1962 and moved to Norman, OK where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Oklahoma. He married and had a daughter, Kimberly Christine "Chris" Reynolds. They moved to Tulsa where he was employed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He quickly established a reputation as a hydrology/hydraulics expert. In 1971 he was selected by the Corps of Engineers for a Water Resources Planning Fellowship as well as earning his Master's Degree from Cornell University. During this time, he earned his pilot license for recreational flying. He also utilized his license to fly to various Corps sights.

In 1977, he married the love of his life, Pat Hogan, who he met on a blind date. They were joined by a daughter, Pollyanne.

In 1981 he was selected as the Tulsa District Engineer of the Year and received several awards for Superior Performance.

In 1985, Dale left the Corps and joined the City of Tulsa Stormwater Management as Manager of Engineering and Planning. Dale was an integral part in helping Tulsa develop one of the top flood programs in the country and helped to develop long range Master Drainage Plans as well as a large capital improvement program. He also began a joint project in the Mingo Creek watershed between the Corps and the City of Tulsa, as the project manager for the City.

Many innovative, multiple-use ideas created an award-winning project. In 1993 the Mingo Creek project was designated one of the Top Ten Outstanding Engineering Projects in the country by the National Society of Professional Engineers, which Dale was a member. After retirement from the City of Tulsa, Dale worked for Meshek & Associates as a Civil Engineer.

In his leisure time, Dale and Pat loved to seek new adventures, on their bicycles and hiking. On their bicycles they toured the countryside of France twice, England and Denmark. They were heavily involved in the Tulsa Bicycle Club and the Memorial Squares Square Dance Club, serving as presidents of each. They participated in the Oklahoma FreeWheel bicycle ride across the state for 25 years. A couple of other favorite locations to visit and hike included the Rocky Mountains in Colorado and Petit Jean State Park in Arkansas.

Dale recently began participating in the Parkinson's Rock Steady Boxing program and developed new friendships through this organization.

With all of his accomplishments in his career, his greatest legacy is his granddaughter, Lauren. He loved her more than words can say.

He is survived by his wife of over 46 years, Patricia Marion Reynolds, his daughter's, Chris Reynolds and Polly Craddock, her husband Mike, his sisters Melba Passmore of Anadarko, OK, and Donna Vawter of California, as well as sisters and brothers in law and many nieces and nephews.
