Herbert "Dale" Whiteis passed from this life into the arms of his lord and savior, Jesus Christ, on April 6, 2016, following a three-year courageous fight with cancer. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who worked very hard to lead a life by taking care of what he considered most important in life: faith, family and friends. Besides a deep love and passion for these, he deeply enjoyed sharing his opinion on politics, watching sports (any sport) and playing golf.
Dale was a member of the Park Plaza Church of Christ, where he recently began working the Food Bank, and he was a member of MeadowBrook Country Club. He loved his extended family at Park Plaza and MeadowBrook and developed many deep and meaningful relationships.
Dale was born on February 3, 1946 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Paul and Loleita Whiteis who preceded him in death. He grew up in Berryhill where he attended his elementary through high school years. He was a standout quarterback for the Berryhill Chiefs and received football scholarship offers to OSU, Arkansas and OU. He accepted the one from OSU where he played for two years, after which time he joined the National Guard.
During his early career, he worked as a transportation salesman and a logistics manager. For more than 25 years, he was employed in a sales role for various insurance companies and most recently as an independent health insurance broker.
His immediate survivors are his wife of 32 years, Kathy; sons, Kyle (Roxanne) and their children Riley, Mason and Mitchell; and Matt (Robin); and their son, Preston. He is also survived by a sister, Pauleta Clawson (Bill) and brother, Dub Whiteis (Cyndi), their families and numerous extended family members on his and Kathy's side who loved him dearly.
From the hospital, Dale mentioned numerous times that he wished he could personally express to each and every one of you how much he appreciated your prayers, love and support for him during his illness. He loved you all!
If you would like to honor Dale, please consider a donation in his memory to the Guide Dog Foundation, (guidedog.org) or to the Park Plaza Church of Christ Food Bank, 5925 E. 51st St., Tulsa, OK 74135. At bottom of check note Food Bank and Dale Whiteis.
