Dane Mark Jackson loved his family, his pets, listening to classical music and wilderness hikes.
He died on March 11, 2024, while hiking at Oxley Nature Park in Tulsa.
Dane was a skilled woodworker like his father. Before retiring, he was assistant manager of Keystone Mill. He was a longtime Tulsan.
He was kind, thoughtful and respected by all who knew him. His family relied on him to carve the Thanksgiving turkey each year.
Dane was a season ticket holder of the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra.
Born in Muskogee on May 26, 1954, to David and Dollie Mae (Boatman) Jackson, he grew up in Eufaula. He graduated from Eufaula High School in 1972 and was salutatorian of his senior class. He studied art at Oklahoma State University before taking a summer job at Sequoia National Park, where he made several lifelong friends. He remained in California for several years before moving back to Oklahoma.
Dane was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Barry Jackson, and sisters Kay Stafford and Diane Mahaffey.
Survivors include his sisters Debbie Jackson and Carmita Hedges; nephews Heath Jackson and Danny Mahaffey; nieces Michele Calvert and Shari Tomlin; his dear friend Carla Riedel, his dog Rocket and cat Gustav.
